Worldcat's xISBN Web service, down?
Hello, We have a test failing because of the xISBN service that is not reachable ( http://xisbn.worldcat.org) Anybody has info about it? Should we remove it from Koha? Is it temporary? Their website does not tell anything about it https://www.worldcat.org/affiliate/webservices/xisbn/app.jsp Please let me know in order to adjust or remove the code. Regards, Jonathan
They impose some quotas on requests per day. Maybe UNC's node (traffic is proxy-ed) is to blame. El mar., 14 de ago. de 2018 17:57, Jonathan Druart < jonathan.druart@bugs.koha-community.org> escribió:

The OCLC Developer Network website has a posting about this [1]: <quote>As a follow up to our March 2016 announcement<https://www.oclc.org/developer/news/2015/change-to-xid-services.en.html> to continue to offer Identifier Services (xID) without any changes to the services or data, OCLC has made the official decision to retire all xID services on 1 July 2018. These services no longer comply with OCLC’s heightened security standards and users continue to experience diminishing value as supporting data becomes further and further out of date. This means that users will need to take action to remove the following web services from all applications: * xISBN<http://xisbn.worldcat.org/xisbnadmin/doc/api.htm> * xISSN<http://xissn.worldcat.org/xissnadmin/doc/api.htm> * xOCLCnum<http://xisbn.worldcat.org/xisbnadmin/xoclcnum/api.htm> At this time, we are not aware of alternative services to consider but want to provide users with as much notice as possible, so they can conduct research and make plans to remove these xID services prior to their retirement on 1 July 2018. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Tony Chirakos<mailto:chirakot@oclc.org>. </quote> [1] https://www.oclc.org/developer/news/2018/xid-decommission.en.html I hope this helps, Bryan Baldus -- Bryan Baldus Independent Cataloger bbaldus@illinoisalumni.org
I've filed a bug report for removing the feature: *Bug 21226* <https://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=21226> - Remove use of retired OCLC xISBN service On 15.08.2018 04:47, Bryan Baldus wrote:
