That command reindexes for you, but if, as you say, zebra is not running then you won't be able to search.

Try sudo /etc/init.d/koha-common restart And see if that starts zebra running

This indicates everything is okay. But I cannot search books. I have try to follow the troubleshooting guide on https://wiki.koha-community.org/wiki/Troubleshooting_Zebra but it appears zebra is not running.
