Login problem in Koha intranet
Hi, I've a new installation of Koha 2.2.9 in Windows XP. But when I login into Koha Intranet, everytime I choose any option it logs me out and login screen comes up. For example if i've choosen 'Parameter' option, I get the login screen again. then again after entering the username and password if I choose to 'Library Branch' I get the login screen again and after doing several logins the data is not getting stored in the database. I'm not understanding what went wrong. Can anyone help me in fixing this problem? Thanks in anticipation -- Nabonita
Two possibilities come to mind. First is the installation is corrupted. Do you have apache, sql, and perl installed and running? If not roll everything back and reinstall apache, sql, perl, and KOHA in that order. Other possibility is you do not have enough memory for KOHA. It should run with 456 mb. I have not tried it with less than that. TW On 5/28/08, Nabonita Guha <nabonitaguha@gmail.com> wrote:

Hi Thomas, Thanks for your quick reply. I've not come across with any error while installing any of the dependecy software. Anyways I will try out first suggestion. Regarding second option it is not much likely because I've installed Koha in brand new machine with 2 GB of RAM and 240 GB hardisk space. Thanks once again Best regards Nabonita On Wed, May 28, 2008 at 4:21 PM, Thomas Clark Wilson < tom.wilson.87@alumni.concordia.ca> wrote:

Also, check you install perl to \usr. Watch for 3rd or 4Th dialogue window. Otherwise KOHA will not work. TW On 5/28/08, Nabonita Guha <nabonitaguha@gmail.com> wrote:

Which version of MySQL you are using? (Try using MySQL-5.0.37-win32) Ata ur Rehman http://www.lisolutions.org/ On Wed, May 28, 2008 at 4:00 PM, Thomas Clark Wilson <tom.wilson.87@alumni.concordia.ca> wrote:

From what he says, I suspect memory is the problem. T

Nabonita -- Please ensure that your browser has cookies enabled, since Koha authentication will make use of them. Also be sure that you are browsing the apache-served version and not executing/viewing files locally (like C:\usr\koha\...). Your amount of memory should be fine. --Joe On Wed, May 28, 2008 at 5:13 AM, Nabonita Guha <nabonitaguha@gmail.com> wrote:

Hi Joe, Thanks for your suggestions. Yes, the cookies in firefox browser which I'm using is enabled. Now I've several times installed koha as well as all dependecy softwares. All get installed without any error. But the problem is still same. Could you please have a look on my httpd.conf file configurations. The places I've made the changes in the same are as follows: **************************** #Listen 12.34.56.78:80 Listen 8000 Listen 9000 NameVirtualHost localhost:8000 NameVirtualHost localhost:9000 <VirtualHost localhost:8000> ServerAdmin webmaster@dummy-opac DocumentRoot /usr/koha229/opac/htdocs ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ /usr/koha229/opac/cgi-bin/ ServerName opac ErrorLog logs/opac-error.log CustomLog logs/opac-access.log common SetEnv PERL5LIB "c:/usr/koha229/intranet/modules" </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost *> ServerAdmin webmaster@dummy-opac DocumentRoot /usr/koha229/opac/htdocs ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ /usr/koha229/opac/cgi-bin/ ServerName opac ErrorLog logs/opac-error.log CustomLog logs/opac-access.log common SetEnv PERL5LIB "c:/usr/koha229/intranet/modules" </VirtualHost> <VirtualHost localhost:9000> ServerAdmin webmaster@dummy-opac DocumentRoot /usr/koha229/intranet/htdocs ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ /usr/koha229/intranet/cgi-bin/ ServerName intranet ErrorLog logs/intranet-error.log CustomLog logs/intranet-access.log common SetEnv PERL5LIB "c:/usr/koha229/intranet/modules" </VirtualHost> ******************************** Thanks. Nabonita -- Your apache configs are contradictory. Remove the catch-all VirtualHost and NameVirtualHost settings so your configuration would look like: ****************************
#Listen 12.34.56.78:80 Listen 8000 Listen 9000
# NameVirtualHost localhost:8000 # NameVirtualHost localhost:9000
<VirtualHost localhost:8000> ServerAdmin webmaster@dummy-opac DocumentRoot /usr/koha229/opac/htdocs ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ /usr/koha229/opac/cgi-bin/ # ServerName opac ErrorLog logs/opac-error.log CustomLog logs/opac-access.log common SetEnv PERL5LIB "c:/usr/koha229/intranet/modules" </VirtualHost>
<VirtualHost localhost:9000> ServerAdmin webmaster@dummy-opac DocumentRoot /usr/koha229/intranet/htdocs ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ /usr/koha229/intranet/cgi-bin/ # ServerName intranet ErrorLog logs/intranet-error.log CustomLog logs/intranet-access.log common SetEnv PERL5LIB "c:/usr/koha229/intranet/modules" </VirtualHost> ********************************
This would select VirtualHost strictly by localhost:X where X is the port number. This assumes you have no other VirtualHosts on port 8000 or 9000. Using unique ports, you don't need NameVirtualHost. NameVirtualHost expects to select (potentially from multiple requests on the same port) based on the ServerName in the request. So if it is used, and your ServerName lines don't match incoming requests, then you get into trouble. Sometimes these problems are made clearer by establishing separate DNS names for the servers at the outset. Then you could use NameVirtualHost and the ServerName lines with those names, and test from any system. Or if you add to your local hosts file (/etc/hosts) to resolve the names you want, you can test, but only from the same system. See "man hosts" for more info. --joe
