We hope to be setting up a library with koha before too long. Not being a librarian I wonder if there are guidelines out there somewhere about establishing library policies. E.g.. term of loan, renewals, overdue policies ... Any help appreciated. </color>The short answer is No, there are no "general" guidelines that I am aware of. My suggestion would be either find a comparable organisation that already has a library, and ask them what they do - (you could join nz-libs mailinglist and ask that question - http://www.vuw.ac.nz/dlis/ssbubl/currawar/nzlibs.html) Or start from the beginning: What do you want to lend? What is a reasonable period for someone to use that particular resource ( and the answer may be one week for a video, but a month for a book )? What do you want to do about things that are not returned? Make a phone call, send an email, send a letter? How do you want to register members - ie the people who will be eligible to borrow? Who will they be? Good luck with it Rosalie Blake Horowhenua Library Trust <color><param>7F00,0000,0000</param>> Any help appreciated.
