Okay, I diagnosed the cause of the error, but now I have a new question. In the koha-conf.xml file I commented out the last two lines concerning the memory caching, memcached_servers and memcached_namespace. That took care of the issue concerning being able to go to the web installer via the full url and getting the fatal error message when I use the just localhost:8080. Now, the question is, how important, or unimportant, is the memcached commands? Thanks, John +----------------------------------------------------------------------- -----+ John Chadwick, Ed.D. Hi, 2009/9/15 Chadwick, John, DCA <john.chadwick@state.nm.us>:
Now, the question is, how important, or unimportant, is the memcached commands?
Memcached support is currently optional, so you may safely leave those lines commented out. Ultimately (and by ultimately I mean likely after the release of 3.2), though, memcached will become an important part of ensuring good performance for large, high-transaction-volume Koha database. Regards, Galen -- Galen Charlton gmcharlt@gmail.com
Thank you Galen. For our first install, memcached is not all that important. Our second implementation will be for our bookmobiles and they will benefit from the memcached support.
