Hi I'm in a little over my head dealing with the MARC setup and I'd appreciate some advice. I've read several articles regarding MARC21 but since my background is in computers and not library sciences I'm not sure what to do. I've just installed Koha for an engineering firm (I'm working here for the summer) in Ottawa, Canada. We're hoping to use it mostly as a searching tool more than a circulation tool. Presently, we have an wide assortment of materials which can be generally categorized as books, journals, maps, manuals, conference materials, and reports both in print and electronic form. Most of the material has been categorized using LOC. Some items had LOC classifications that we did not find useful so they were given a different classification. My questions are: 1. How do I change the MARC setup to use LOC instead of Dewey? biblioitems.classification is linked to 942k but Dewey is 082 isn't it? 2. What is the best way to setup MARC given that the LOC classification is sometimes changed? I saw an example where a MARC field of 090 was used for a Local Call #. What happens to the ones we haven't changed? 3. What is biblio.notes associated with by default (MARC21) because I think I changed it by accident? It's presently linked to 520a. 4. We'd like to be able to list some keywords that we can search for. Is there a MARC field for this purpose already? or would I create a MARC field like 59X or 9XX? Thanks, Mike _______________________________________________ Koha mailing list Koha@lists.katipo.co.nz http://lists.katipo.co.nz/mailman/listinfo/koha
