Dear *, when trying to convince someone to just have a look on koha and think about switching to koha, I was asked, what installations of koha there are in Germany. I assume, there is one in Berlin, hi Dorian ;-), but are there more? I think they fear to have no community to talk to, with their existing system (Bibliotheca) they have annual user meetings and they can talk about with neighboured libraries. And BTW, I was also asked about the supported cataloguing system (I am a novice to this stuff ;-). The question was whether they would have to learn the AACR (Anglo American Cataloguing Rules) or whether they could use RAK (Regeln für die Alphabetische Katalogisierung). When googling for information about cataloguing rules I had the impression that there are many. Have cataloguing rules any impact on how to use koha? If there is an impact, then how can we cope with national cataloguing rules? Any ideas? Best wishes, Ralf
Hello Ralf, No, there is no requirement in Koha to conform with any particular set of cataloguing rules. You can choose for yourself whatever suits your library. Rosalie Blake, Head of Libraries, Horowhenua Library Trust. On 1 Sep 2002, at 17:24, Dr. Ralf Allrutz wrote:

Note that in the MARC (koha 1.4) version, I plan to build a modular method for cataloguing : the library will be able to choose whit fields they want to use in their koha. Either a full MARC, an small MARC, or anything between those. -- Paul
