Hello, My library is preparing to migrate to Koha, and I'm trying to make sure we have enough support in place for the librarians and staff who will have to develop new procedures and workflows. I've been reading this mailing list in web forum from time to time, and it seems to be mainly for administrators. I was wondering a) Can I request that a new list be started? And b) Are there people on here who would be interested in this list? I'm thinking it would be for technical services library workers who could share how they accomplish certain goals, or could ask if they're having trouble figuring out how to do something. (I know that's vague. Specifically, right now, our Serials Librarian is curious about how the predictions work in Koha.) Of course, if there is an existing resource you can recommend, that would be great. Thanks. Karen Kohn Collection Development Manager Landman Library Arcadia University 450 S. Karen -- The discussion of splitting off lists into subsets of audience has come up previously, with most commenters agreeing that keeping things together is more important to the community than having a more narrowly targeted audience, even if this means reading additional messages of lesser interest. (The logical exceptions to this are the Koha lists in other lanugages.) Your proposed use (tech services discussing Koha usage) seems exactly in line with the main purpose of this list. Your serials librarian will have a much better chance having his or her questions answered on this list than on any proposed fragmentary list. In short, I recommend you guys keep Koha discussions here unless something seems obviously broken. --Joe Atzberger, LibLime On Thu, Dec 4, 2008 at 10:02 AM, Kohn, Karen <kohnk@arcadia.edu> wrote:

Hi Karen, I too am interested in this side of things. Have just started configuring my Koha 3.0 test site and already have had a few operational questions. I have found this list and the Koha irc channel both really helpful, but I agree that is more focussed at the technical rather than operational or procedural way. Havn't got right through Nicole's Koha 3.0 manual yet but what I have found has been great. She monitors the koha list and gives some really practical answers, as to a number of other people, so I wonder if we should just keep firing our questions here in the existing forum. I am wary of separating the techies from the librarians... and it informs the work of each other if we are all sharing our experiences and challenges. cheers Jo. Kohn, Karen wrote:
