Dear fellow Koha /admins/user/frriends I m a public servant in Vienna at the "Zentralanstalt für Meteorologie und Geodynamik" (Austrian weather and seismological service) and I became a librarian just recently after 20 years of empirical research and knowledge working (and a lot of IT stuff). For the past 6 Months (Its a one man job :-) I ve converted our old library system (programmed 1992 ;-) to Koha also doing the step (forward ?) from MAB2 to MARC21. The system is now up and running but for the time being only accessible internally. I ve subscribed to the mailing list cause for me there are many questions open before going "public". Our Data are far below authoritative and have to be "polished" as our holdings are unique (>65.000 books before 1945, from them >27.000 before 1918) so catalog enrichment (copy and paste ;-) is possible in very few cases (as my research at LOC, Austrian and German National Library has shown). Right now I m (re) learning Perl (done my programming for the last 10 Years in Python ) and playing around with the Koha System. Koha is a great System and the longer I dig into it the more I like it.. Cheers Hofrat Mag. Rainer Stowasser Head of Library ZAMG
