Corrupted PDF on Batch Export
On Koha 3.03.00.004 using the label creator I have create batches in the past that downloaded as PDFs fine. However the librarian recently added about 100 books to the system manually and in trying to print the labels for a new batch containing those books the PDF file that is downloaded in not valid. I get a message from my reader that the file is damaged. I have created other batches that download fine so it appears there is something in that batch which is causing the problem. Any ideas on where to look? I can download that batch as a CSV. Thanks, Shawn

If you can, please send along the corrupted pdf for examination. If not, try opening the corrupted pdf in a plain text editor. Most likely there will be an error embedded in it. Post that error back here. Kind Regards, Chris
Hi Chris, Thanks for the help. The contents of the PDF: %PDF-1.4 %‚„œ” 4 0 obj<</Type/Font/Subtype/Type1/BaseFont/Courier/Encoding/WinAnsiEncoding>>endobj 5 0 obj<</Type/Font/Subtype/Type1/BaseFont/Times-Italic/Encoding/WinAnsiEncoding>>endobj 6 0 obj<</Type/Font/Subtype/Type1/BaseFont/Times-Roman/Encoding/WinAnsiEncoding>>endobj <h1>Software error:</h1> <pre>Wide character in compress at /usr/share/perl5/PDF/Reuse.pm line 819 </pre> <p> For help, please send mail to the webmaster (<a href="mailto:webmaster@koha">webmaster@koha</a>), giving this error message and the time and date of the error. </p> I just figured out what was causing this. When the librarian was adding the books she used an accented 'a' in the author's name on one of the books. In the CSV download this was showing as: GonzaÃÅlez, Hugo. I went into the marc record and replaced the accented 'a' with a plain a and now the PDF export is fine. Thanks, Shawn

Most corrupted label pdfs are due to encoding issues. We are working toward implementing a browser based label output which will hopefully overcome these limitations. Kind Regards, Chris
