Problem with new functionnality Hard Due Dates
Hi all, I would like to share our experience with 3.6 regarding this new functionality of Hard Due Date: http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=5548 Please let me know if I need to put this comment elsewhere.. I would like to see with you what kind of workaround I can use :-) Basically, globalduedate and ceilingduedate has been removed and automatically fill the circ. rule instead. Look's great at first but, our libraries are all "school type" and we were modifying the ceilingdue at least 3 times each year. We we putting the "End of session" as the max return date. You also need to know that most of the libraries have a lot for circ. rule. ( From 50 to up to 200 ). In the current state, we need to ask our librarians to manually update all the rules each time they want to specify a new ceiling due date. We can't only modify circ. rule so we need to redo them from scratch... So you can now see that this new feature is a big regression for us. Maybe not a regression, but error prone / time consuming problem. Is there any way to batch update an entire set of circ. rule to a new Hard due date ? Any other idea you can share to help us ? I believe there is a development in the works to make it so that you can edit rules in the Circulation and Fines matrix, but I can't seem to find the bug link for you. Maybe someone else can provide the link to the bug/enhancement that talks about making it so that you can edit the circulation rules instead of recreating them. one line of SQL would probably work here, as a quicky? try experimenting with SQL on your test Koha system
Thanks for the suggestion but it's not really "user friendly". We will update all our Hard due date to empty for now,using sql, and we will try to find a solution before the end of the session. BTW : Some librairies truly like the new way to work... some other dont. We have recently had to deal with this issue as well. An additional feature which would help here would be a script or tool to allow bulk changing of these dates under the new system. Opening an enhancement request in bugs.koha-community.org will help keep track of this. Kind Regards, Chris
