PTFS Acquisition of LibLime Reactivated and Completed (Wagner, Jane)
Without commenting on any other effect of the announcement regarding the PTFS acquisition of LibLime, I am curious about views of the Koha community regarding the statement: "PTFS pledges to enhance and maintain the www.koha.org site as the focal point for the world’ s Koha activities– the place to find the latest information on Koha support, documentation, news, and downloads." Will a PTFS hosted koha.org be regarded as the web presence for the global Koha community? Will koha-community.org/ continue, and which site will in fact be regarded as the global community site? We are aware of all the issues, but our first priority has to be serving all the customers (PTFS and LibLime) and getting systems integrated. That isn't going to be quick or easy - it will take a lot of work and time. I personally think people are reading too much into the press release phrasing. Nothing is set in stone yet, but decisions and actions on the community issues can't be our number one priority just now. Give us time. We'll address everything in turn. Jane's comments make perfect sense from a business perspective, and it is for that reason that koha-community.org will remain the official Koha site until everyone can come together to discuss the issues. A transition like this (merging two companies into one) can't be an easy one and I think the new Koha site is working perfectly for us as it is now. This at least is my personal assumption and what I've gathered from other discussions. Nicole C. Engard Koha Documentation Manager 2010/3/16 Wagner, Jane <jwagner@ptfs.com>:

Hi Jim, 2010/3/16 Jim Minges <jminges@nekls.org>:
Will koha-community.org/ continue, and which site will in fact be regarded as the global community site?
It was with much regret that the community elected to take the action of moving to koha-community.org. The move was long delayed with the hope that koha.org would "come home" so to speak. This, unfortunately, did not happen. As the community cannot expect to be held in any respect if it consistently changes, that decision is not up for reconsideration as I understand it. We have now gotten beyond the issue of the website, and assets, and are moving forward: necessary actions in order to maintain the health of the community. So from the point of its inception forward, koha-community.org should be considered *the* authoritative site for the Koha community. Regarding koha.org and other assets held by others than the community appointed custodians: time will tell what the ultimate status will be. Should, at some point in the future, these assets be offered back to the Koha community, I should think that they would gladly and joyfully received. And it would be a simple matter to make koha.org refer to the koha-community.org should such a time come. However, all of this is pure speculation at the moment and mostly a diversion of time and energy in a useless fashion. We can cross that bridge if and when we come to it. Kind Regards, Chris

As far as I'm concerned, it's business as usual, the community voted to set up koha-community.org and maintain it, and it will continue to do so. I don't think we need to replay decisions, nothing has changed. When PTFS decide how they plan to interact with the community, we will all be right there waiting for them. Until then, in my opinion, it's a non issue, the new site is working really well. Chris
Hi all, I want to completely support Chris's opinion expressed below. Lets just hold the course - business as usual for koha-community.org Cheers Jo. Chris Cormack wrote:
