Hello My koha opac and staff client gives Internal server error while opening it. I found server consumes all hardisk space very frequently . My server maintenance team looking this issue but I am worried if there is any Koha related issue, however size of our database is only 1.5GB Koha version 20.05.04, Ubuntu 18.04 and mariadb 10.4 Please suggest

Hi Vinod You can start by looking for the largest files in your system with something like sudo du -a /var/ | sort -n -r | head -n 20 This will scan the /var/ directory and will gives you the 20 bigger files. You can then look at those files and see who generated them and its content for a clue on the cause. Hello I found the size of file "tmp" is very high at /var/lib/koha/library/biblios/tmp which is approx 83GB, saw there are a lot of files generated there. I think by default there is no such files after installation but I am not able to trace the reason for such files which is much in number. Please suggest can I delete all the files and further suggestions to avoid such an issue. By default, the zebra indexing is being done every 30 seconds with all the backup of indexed data including biblios etc. This may be disabed at /etc/koha/cron.d where you have cron triggers for daily, hourly, weekly. Location of these cron files may vary depends on your installation. you can locate the files with locate file command. Just try commenting out of the zebra indexing lines in the cron files and observe for a couple of days. This will give an idea as to whether the problem is with data or something else. These responses out of our experiences. Whenever we cut-paste biblio data from lib of congress or any other source during cataloging, some records have extra characters which may cause generating huge biblio and index file. I found the size of file "tmp" is very high at /var/lib/koha/library/biblios/tmp which is approx 83GB, saw there are
a
lot of files generated there. I think by default there is no such files after installation but I am not able to trace the reason for such files which is much in number.
Please suggest can I delete all the files and further suggestions to avoid such an issue.

You can start by looking for the largest files in your system with something like
sudo du -a /var/ | sort -n -r | head -n 20
This will scan the /var/ directory and will gives you the 20 bigger files.
You can then look at those files and see who generated them and its content for a clue on the cause.

I think by default, auto backup of the database is taken including index files. You can manually tweek the cron files.
