Problem importing authorities (authority type gets overwritten)
Hallo to everyone, I am having a problem importing authorities into Koha 3.12.5 (Debian Wheezy packaged version). When I import authorities into Koha the Authority type gets replaced from what i put into field 152b (where Koha keeps authority type code) to SNC. Because of that I can't search for authorities through their authority types but can find them searching all authority types and default authority type. It looks to me that it might have something in common with the problem that Fabio Tian is having (see links between bibs and authorities lost for custom authority types since upgrade from 3.6 <http://news.gmane.org/find-root.php?message_id=%3c1381085012966%2d5773622.post%40n5.nabble.com%3e>). Here is an example of the records imported: 001 000052 152 ^bOSB 250 ^aŠtefan^bLjubica 461 ^1000001 900 000052 901 ^6a 909 2 980 HDS 001 000053 152 ^bOSB 250 ^aKrišto^bJure 461 ^1000001 900 000053 901 ^6a 909 2 980 HDS Those have been converted to a mrc file which passed MarcEdit test and imported into Koha. Authority type is OSB and gets changed to SNC. I am using UNIMARC. OSB authority framework lists 001, 152^b, 250^abc, 330^67a, 450^ab and 900 Regards, Željko
Hi there Željko, I solved my problems in the meanwhile (thanks Zeno for the tip!), but BE CAREFUL: I'm still testing it and I recommend you not to try it on a production system yet since I'm not sure it's the correct way to set things up. Is OSB a built-in authority type or a custom one? I'm sorry but I don't know what language your sample data is. I'm asking this question because I have found that when you create a framework for a new authority type, the list of codes of GuessAuthTypeCode in AuthoritiesMarc.pm doesn't get updated. This seems to affect the importing process, overwriting 152$b as you noticed and therefore putting your authority records along the Subject (Common Name) ones in your case. As for the linking between auths and bibs, I solved that too, but I'm going to write it down in its own "thread" tomorrow (sorry but I'm quite busy these weeks!). Furthermore, if I understood well, it doesn't bother you anyway. :) Hope this helps. Fabio 2013/10/30 Željko Puškarić <zpuskaric@sabor.hr>

Thanks Fabio Helped by your explenation I managed to import authorities and can assign them to cataloging records. Didn't check if imported records are properly linked to authorities yet (looks like they are not linked properly) because I'm now trying to create new cataloging record and check MARC of the record to find out the way to import biblio that would link properly to authorities. My biblio database just contains imported items so I can test it for a while. With Best Regards Željko On 10/30/2013 05:17 PM, Fabio Tiana wrote:

Once you import the authorities and bib records, you need to link them. This page might help: http://perldoc.koha-community.org/misc/link_bibs_to_authorities.html This process is very very precise, so if you have anything that differs (spaces, case, diacritics) it won't match. But on the other hand, you want your authorities to be precise! Elaine On Mon, Nov 4, 2013 at 12:59 PM, Željko Puškarić <zpuskaric@sabor.hr> wrote:
