Does anyone know if there is a way to transfer all the books I have on our old, really old, version of KOHA computer to the new 3.0 version that our IT guy installed on another computer. He said the version we are using now is so old that he couldn't just update it. I hate to think that I will have to input every book again. Our IT guy is excellent, but knows almost nothing about library stuff. I know nothing about computers. Thanks, Suzanne Gilbert
Depends. What version of Koha is on your computer? (You might be able to find something in the administrative interface or menu called "About Koha".)

in a discussion done on this list in 07-May-2008 Judith C. Saulle and Steve Bradwell spoked about upgrade from Koha 1.3 to 2.2.9 (last stable). See: http://lists.katipo.co.nz/public/koha/2008-May/013816.html In general one have two way: 1) -Export biblio, authority, holdings and user data from old version -Import in the new one You loose system configuration, patron activities, budget information, serial prediction patteners You need to use marc import/export tool and SQL for user data. It is the easier way 2) Upgrade passing every version. It is more long and more complicate. In theory you don't loose anything.
