Different circulation rules for the same item type
Dear all, We are testing Koha 3.0.6 and a question regarding a specific circulation rule has come up. How may one set up a circulation rule that states that a specific holding of a given item type (e.g. book) may be checked out for a period of 5 days, and another holding of the same type may be checked out for 10 days. To solved this, should we create 2 distinct item types, e.g. book5days and book10days? Is there a better way to do this? Regards, Miguel Ferreira - - Miguel Ferreira, Ph.D. KEEP SOLUTIONS, LDA. Miguel, You would not be able to assign different circulation rules to the same combination of branch, itemtype and patron category. To get different rules, you'd need to change one of those things. If you want the behaviour to be consistent across branches and patrons, then, yes, you'd need two different item types. Hi Miguel, In fact you have two different things : ccodes and itemtypes in Koha 3.0 So you can have 2 different itemtypes (5 days, 10 days, 130 days even) for 1 collection code (Book for instance). and use AdvancedsearchTypes to allow ppl to search on collection codes. Hopes that helps.
