I remember that some time ago a company called Relais International released their ILL software as Open Source - so maybe this means ILL is seen as a stand-alone application, rather than something that should be integrated into
the ILS? http://www.relais-intl.com/relais/home/index.htm
Any and all information/views on this is very welcome!

Hello,
We too are very concerned with interlibrary loan and its relation to Koha in our regional library consortium in Kansas. We are dealing with this in several ways:
1. Most interlibrary loan is being provided among the participants in our Koha system through a single shared Koha data base. We have found this to be much more efficient than traditional ILL, and is one of the reasons we have
pursued a shared rather than standalone ILS system.
2. We have configured our catalog so that whenever an item is not found in our Koha system the following link pops up:
*Not finding what you're looking for? *Look for this item in the Kansas Library Catalog
<http://ksuc-agent.auto-graphics.com/agent/login.asp?cid=ksuc&lid=ksuc&mode=g
The link takes the user to the standalone statewide ILL system.
3. We would like to eventually have direct links between our Koha system and other library catalogs but that is in the future.
We did have discussions with RELAIS but their solution did not seem to meet
our needs at this time.
Thanks for your reply, Jim! I'm afraid I need to be fed this with teaspoons, as we say in Norwegian... Lets see if I understand this correctly: Your library is part of a regional library consortium in Kansas, a subset of all the libraries in Kansas. This consortium shares one Koha-installation, with all the libraries in the consortium set up as (independent?) "branches" within the installation, and you lend books to each other through Koha. This is your preffered mode for ILL. If a book is not found in your consortial Koha, patrons are directed to the "Kansas Library Catalog" which runs on a system called AGent, provided by Auto-Graphics Inc., and this is the "standalone statewide ILL system", a kind of federated catalogue for all or most of the libraries in Kansas, with possibilities for patrons to register ILL requests?
