Librarian Privileges
Hi, How does one tie a librarians user ID to a specific library within Koha? As it stands, if I create a librarian ID, they can choose which library they want to manage. However, is there a way to tie the ID to a specific library such that they have access to the patrons and books within that library only? Thank you. Hello: This is a continuation of my earlier question: We're using Koha 3 and what we've found is that when we create a librarian as a user how do we bind that user/librarian ID to a particular branch? As of now, we've created librarians as users but find that they can access all the branches in the system. This is problematic because they can issue books from *any* library to patrons in *any* library. Is there a way to fix this that we've missed? Thank you. Hi Frederic:
Have you enabled 'IndependantBranches' system preference?
It's off right now. Did turn it on yesterday but it then wouldn't let me log in. -- Please read our new blog at: http://blog.prathambooks.org/

Then it sounds like you have achieved your goal with it on. You would have to select your account's library when you attempt to login with IB on. The root koha user should still be able to login regardless though. --joe
This is good most times, but what if I have a staff member that works 2 branches? They would have to have 2 different accounts? If I get a book from branch A can I check it out to someone at my location or does it just not recognize the book? hmmmm Joe Atzberger wrote:

Can you not set up a librarian to be associated with more than one library? If so, they can choose which library they are working in for that session. -- Please read our new blog at: http://blog.prathambooks.org/
I don't know, that's why I was asking - if you have indepenant branches turned on though how do you indicate that librarian has "rights" at more than one location.??? Gautam John wrote:

Okay. It does work and I don't need to select the library when I log in. It seems to be set automatically. However, what doesn't seem to work is the Advanced Search feature, in part. I can search for books in all libraries but if I choose the library I am assigned to, no books show up. Nor if I choose the ones that should be currently available. -- Please read our new blog at: http://blog.prathambooks.org/
