Re: [Koha] Patron Category TYPES_REvised question :)
We also have no trouble developing many different patron categories under the current structure. It seems that you Student category easily can fit under ADULT, while the Employee category is still a logical subcategory of STAFF (or even ADULT, if you choose!) They operate according to what parameters you choose for each. The only real differences I've seen are the guarantor portion or the difference in the way names are entered with some broad Categories. I already know that the Patron Category Types are hardcoded in the system.
The category *types* are hard-coded. But you can create your own individual categories under any of those types.
Because in our library, the Adult and Child Category types are not really useful. So we are planning to add the following category types:
1. Student (does NOT need guarantor) 2. Employee (replacement to the Staff Category type)
At my library we don't find the guarantor feature to be useful, so we've created all our patron types as a subtype of the Adult category type. This doesn't adversely affect any aspect of patron management for us. -- Owen -- Web Developer Athens County Public Libraries http://www.myacpl.org _______________________________________________ Koha mailing list Koha@lists.katipo.co.nz http://lists.katipo.co.nz/mailman/listinfo/koha -------------------------------------------------------------------- mail2web.com Enhanced email for the mobile individual based on Microsoft® Exchange - http://link.mail2web.com/Personal/EnhancedEmail
