Challenge with Circulation Permissions Automatically Unchecking in Koha 24
Dear Koha Support Team, I hope you are well. I am currently experiencing a challenge in Koha 24 under *Set Permissions*, specifically within the *Circulation rights* section. When assigning circulation permissions to a staff member, I have noticed that if I uncheck certain sub-permissions under the circulation module, the main permission “Check out and check in items (circulate)” automatically becomes unchecked as well. This behavior occurs even when other circulation-related permissions remain selected. As a result, it becomes difficult to configure limited or specific circulation rights for staff members without unintentionally disabling the entire circulation module. Could you please clarify whether this is the expected behavior in Koha 24 or if this may be a configuration issue? Additionally, I would appreciate guidance on the correct way to assign basic circulation rights without triggering the automatic removal of the main circulation permission. Thank you for your assistance. I look forward to your guidance on resolving this matter. -- The contents of this email and its attachments are confidential. Hi. What you are describing is the normal behavour when setting permissions: 1. Select "Checkout and check in items (circulate)" 2. All the sub-permissions are selected 3. Remove a sub-permission, for example, "Manage item bookings (manage_bookings)" 4. The "Checkout and check in items (circulate)" is now not selected, but all the sub-permissions (apart from manage_bookings) are selected 5. Subject to other permissions (such as Add, modify and view patron information (borrowers)) the patron can check in and check out items (for example) I don't know enough about setting permissions in real life, so will leave it up to others to respond to your other questions. Hi, That seems like the normal behaviour to me. The top checkbox is only checked if all subpermissions are checked. What is the challenge specifically? Which subpermission are you removing and what is it that you want your staff to be able to do that they are not able to if the top-level permission is not checked?
