ding, ding, the bell rings... koha-1.9.1 is out
Here are IMPORTANT release notes : * standard acquisition and MARC cataloguing now both useable at the same time. * MANY bugfixes. * almost everything now templated. A few admin scripts still to template. * inclusion of some pictures to say "add", "modify", "delete" in many places. * the koha-html cvs tree is now UNUSED, and no mode included in this release. the koha cvs project contains everything. TODO * z39.50 support. A port from the 1.2.x z39.50 support needs to be done. Should be quick, * fixing bugs. If you find a bug in this version, please take the plane and go for a trip to : bugs.koha.org FEATURE FREEZE feature freeze is there... only z39.50 will be added until 2.0RC1, which should be the next release ! KNOWN BUGS *IMPORTANT* : * koha does NOT work with MARC::Record 1.12. It works fine with MARC::Record 0.93, and maybe with other versions. * repeted subfields in MARC/iso2709 works poorly : only the 1st subfield is stored, other are ignored. At least, the 1st is right ! (in the 1.9.0, the 1st was buggied by other subfields too) * In the MARC search, the "not" flag does not work : the result of the query is very strange ! * en and fr are the only languages well supported in this version. Other translator teams are waiting for more stable templates :-) -- Paul POULAIN Consultant indépendant en logiciels libres responsable francophone de koha (SIGB libre http://www.koha-fr.org)
Okay, a question for Paul, and then 2 other questions: (1) What perl command do I use to find out what version of MARC::Record I have? And how do I reinstall the working version? (2) I'm trying to get Koha working on my system, which does not yet have a domain name, but will. Right now, I just have my own computer. Anyhow, I installed it with a domain name, but then couldn't test it, so I reran #perl installer.pl. I went back to /etc/apache/httpd and removed the previous setup information that was there, in order to eliminate conflicts, but I still am not getting the intranet page at all, and the OPAC system rejects any user/password combo I enter. Does anyone know what files I have to delete before I rerun the installer [also, as an aside, how do I remove MySQL databases?] (3) Once I have Koha up and running, I'm going to have a huge job in front of me, because I'm going to have to write a different Marc record format. Lithuania has their own Marc Record system [search LIBIS], and although I'm pretty sure I can access the specifics as I need to, I'm betting that this is not Unimarc. Anyhow, should I install Unimarc first, to see how it goes? Or should I immediately start by selecting "no format", and then start entering data? And if the second, where do I go from here?

Correction: I can get through with the OPAC: I had misentered the username. Whoops. Anyhow, I have that up and running. I also consider it possible that I'm doing something wrong with the intranet page, but who knows. I'll wait till I get connected to the internet, and see if setting it to an internet address will make it work. Anyhow, I don't necessarily need an answer on this question now, but the other questions I still would like an answer. It might be nice to have a manual about how to set up the Marc tag structure with the "Add tag" webpage, so that I will do it right. - Mike Rudmin __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
