Hi, our Koha at the Library of National Botanic Garden of Wales has been working with no problems for over 2 years. The system has been run, maintained, backed up etc on a local server by Library volunteers who have no IT background, and with no tech support. Installed by us, using kohalivecd, and running in Ubuntu. The company who provide IT support for the Garden's network and servers have finally agreed to take on tech support for the Library, so we offered them our complete and up-to-date back up files, but they have instead chosen to migrate the system themselves and have installed Koha 3.8.1 on a new server. I am not aware which version of Linux they are using. So far, so good... BUT the Zebra searching isn't working, in fact it's not clear that Zebra is there at all, but when I tried switching 'NoZebra' so as not to use Zebra, it still didn't work. In addition, the Z39.50 searching isn't working either. I have now asked the IT people to switch us back to our old system while they sort it out, which they've done, so at least we now do have a functioning Koha again, but wonder if anyone out there in the Koha community has had any problems with 3.8.1 and Zebra, or can suggest something for me to pass on to the Tech Support company. Any suggestions will be gratefully received. Kate Jones (Volunteer librarian, National Botanic Garden of Wales)

Might it be best to get one of the people at your tech support company to sign up here on this list? Or are you comfortable acting as "intermediary" on tech Q&As? At the very least, this list would need to know what system they are using, how they installed Koha and what they have done (with the help of installation docs and other Wiki FAQs) to try and resolve the non-functioning portions of 3.8 compared to the functioning livecd that you have been obliged to revert to. [Also, I'm not certain that it's possible to migrate directly from 3.2 (presumably the livecd you are successfully using) direct to 3.8 - maybe someone else here can confirm?] As an aside, your website <http://www.gardenofwales.org.uk/?page_id=128> has a URL reference to liblimes's <http://koha.org>, not *this* open-source Koha -- are you sure your Tech Support has installed 3.8.1? Best - Paul
Here is some links and info that maybe give some help. Don’t forget to: export KOHA_CONF=/etc/koha/koha-conf.xml export PERL5LIB=/usr/share/koha/lib If zebra is corrupted or if zebra is not installed, try: http://lists.koha-community.org/pipermail/koha-zebra/2010-February/000643.ht... *make update_zebra_conf* Understanding Zebra: http://www.len.ro/work/koha-search/ http://www.len.ro/work/koha-search-2/ -- View this message in context: http://koha.1045719.n5.nabble.com/Koha-3-8-1-zebra-searching-failure-tp57168...
