Specific Material Designation

Item Types are defined on the Administration page of the staff client. You can define your item types in whatever form you wish. If you wish you can use different descriptions at the record level (942$c) and the holdings level (items.itype or 952$y). Which is used in the circulation rules is defined by the system preference 'item-level_itypes'. Hi, Bob was able to answer your question if it was specifically about Item Types, but I believe you may be asking about the material type that is driven from the values in your leader from the marc record.
