Dear all We're trying to install koha 3.22 on debian jessy 8, but with external mysql server.. we have followed the intrsutcions in koha-create using requeest-db and populate-db but when it finishes the koha it is not able to start the webinstaller. We're pretty sure that we're someting wrong here *create a new file in its place containing the connection information for the server, in the form of a my.cnf file. * May anybody that has been succesful installtion koha with remote mysql server installed via packages gives a hand on this, please? Hi Galen Yes, this is how we have created the file, but it doesn't work... I suspect that some of the config value are not properly populated... we're going to check it agains another mysql server just in case it is for security reasons.. Hi Galen Thanks for your feed back, and yes mysql remote server is accesible via 'mysql --defaults-extra-file=/etc/mysql/koha-common.cnf' we also checked this before send to the list. We have been able to link koha to remote mysql server, but by force ;) .. I thinnk something is missing with populate-db or something in koha is expecting mysql local , perhaps the socket? 1. We have installed a local MySQL server and create a local instance 2. We have modified koha-conf.xml to target remote database server 3. Hello, Try running: koha-enable <instance_name> For some reason, the remote installation doesn't enable your instance, despite this "Enable a Koha instance. New instances are enabled by default. For some reason, the remote installation doesn't enable your instance, despite this "Enable a Koha instance. New instances are enabled by default. You only need this command if you have previously disabled a site with koha-disable." in the documentation.

Try running: koha-enable <instance_name>
For some reason, the remote installation doesn't enable your instance, despite this "Enable a Koha instance. New instances are enabled by default. You only need this command if you have previously disabled a site with koha-disable." in the documentation.

Thanks for your feed back, and yes mysql remote server is accesible via 'mysql --defaults-extra-file=/etc/mysql/koha-common.cnf' we also checked this before send to the list.
We have been able to link koha to remote mysql server, but by force ;) .. I thinnk something is missing with populate-db or something in koha is expecting mysql local , perhaps the socket?
1. We have installed a local MySQL server and create a local instance 2. We have modified koha-conf.xml to target remote database server 3. We have gone to the installer and success now it is working , we have upload records, create biblio... and koha search all working fine
The error we face with install request-db and populate-db I think that koha really doesn't know that Mysql remot exist, becasue it shows the unavailable.html
On the other hand once we have pointed the local to remote database we have seen a decrease of koha searches even with fasterd ssd discs of 900 iops, we're going to make some other checks and I will share with you
