Greetings all! I've been told that Koha isn't able to send overdue notices as text messages to cell phones, but that it can send other notices (such as hold filled notifications, item due reminders, etc.) as text messages to cell phones. Is this information correct? Thanks, Nora ________________________ Nora Blake MassCat Manager Massachusetts Library System P.O. That was my understanding. The SMS messaging option is only available on the 'Enhanced Messaging' options if you have an SMS Driver installed and listed in the system preferences. Nicole On Fri, Aug 27, 2010 at 3:28 PM, Nora Blake <nblake@masslibsystem.org> wrote:

using an email->sms gateway-service would work too, i think http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SMS_gateway Cheers, Mason. -- KohaAloha, NZ.

My library has considered this possibility, but it doesn't seem feasible. If you have one email message that is sent to all patrons, but some patrons are getting a message via the email->sms gateway service, how do you compose such a message? A full message appropriate for a regular email client will have far more characters than you could send via sms. A "tweet-sized" notice might work for the sms folks, but be uninformative for the standard email users. -- Owen -- Web Developer Athens County Public Libraries http://www.myacpl.org
