Cataloging question- adding tags
Hello Koha people, I have some questions about cataloging. How do you add a tag to a bib record when the tag does not already exist? There seems to be no mechanism for inserting a new tag. I can duplicate but not add. Can one just change a tag number if it was erroneously labeled? e.g. changing 650 0 Outer space to 651 0 Outer space. Or do you have to reenter all the information into the correct tag? Not impossible but it would be simpler to just change the tag number as we do now. __________________________ Cecil Hillyard http://library.washoecounty.us Washoe County Library Technical Services 4001 S. To add more tags you need to edit the framework before you start cataloging. You can't add/remove tags from the interface while cataloging a record. More here: http://koha-community.org/documentation/3-2-manual/x4441#AEN4444 Nicole 2010/12/6 Hillyard, Cecil <CHillyard@washoecounty.us>:

So I am editing a record and delete the call number information in the 090, because it was just wrong. Saved it. Then I try to add a corrected call number in the 090. What happens is that I cannot add an 090. It was there in the original record but is no longer there and I cannot add. Supposedly, the 090 was made mandatory but it does not show up in editing mode. I checked this record in all frameworks and cannot add 090. This is a screenshot of the record in editing mode. How do I add 090? __________________________ Cecil Hillyard Washoe County Library Technical Services tel.: 775-827-1885 fax: 775-827-5484 -----Original Message----- From: Nicole Engard [mailto:nengard@gmail.com] Sent: Monday, December 06, 2010 11:38 AM To: Hillyard, Cecil Cc: koha@lists.katipo.co.nz Subject: Re: [Koha] Cataloging question- adding tags To add more tags you need to edit the framework before you start cataloging. Cecil, You can't add a tag from the cataloging interface you must edit it in the 'Marc Bibliographic Frameworks' section. More info here: http://koha-community.org/documentation/3-2-manual/?ch=x4441#AEN4444 Nicole On Wed, Dec 15, 2010 at 12:57 PM, Hillyard, Cecil <CHillyard@washoecounty.us
