I know that we're still planning KohaCon11 but we had mentioned that we should start early with the decision on where KohaCon12 would be held to give the next host country a bit more time to plan, also getting things planned a year in advance is a good idea for all future conferences. I just wanted to bring this topic back up so we can get things started. Nicole

This was discussed at the last General IRC Meeting: http://stats.workbuffer.org/irclog/koha/2011-04-06#i_631561 The concensus seemed to be that a shortlist of possible next venues should be presented at the end of each KohaCon. It struck me afterwards that this sort of assumes that KohaCon will always be held in the fall, which might or might not be a good idea... Best regards, Magnus Enger libriotech.no

I'm with you Magnus, it's not a good idea to assume that, I'm planning the SLA 2012 conference right now - and have been since November 2010 and the 2011 conference isn't happening until June. We don't need to plan the conference out that far in advance, but we do need to have locations set and date ranges set. That way people can plan their budgets and the locations can organize what they need (hotels, food, venues, etc). Nicole PS. I missed that meeting (obviously).
For those of us working in libraries we need at least a year to plan try and argue with administration the need and to budget... Things that happen annually we can usually plan for and show benefit, but travel costs vary so much right now having that long to plan helps tremendously. For those of us that may have to flip this on our own nickle it is even more important! -- David Schuster Library Technology Coordinator Plano ISD ---- Nicole Engard <nengard@gmail.com> wrote:
