I think the word you are translating as "ethnicity" may be for "language". The idea of Virtual Shelves options, with Koha and other pricey library systems, is to give a patron the sense of what he or she would see on the same shelf (same general area) of the collection as the specific title sought. Actually, in New Zealand, they are tracking the ethnic background of their library patrons (something that we don't do here in the US). Libraries are able to toggle this on or off. -pate
