Good morning, We have been using Age restriction in Koha for 2 years, using field 521$a to input our restriction information (FSK 13) and mapping that to biblioitems.agerestriction - to restrict the age of adult graphic novels to people over the age of 13. AgeRestrictionMarker is set in Administration. This has suddenly stopped working. I have checked the manual but it doesn’t appear to have changed. Is this an error in Koha? Hi Sue, I just tested this on the latest development version and it will works here. Could you maybe share some more information? What I did in order to test: - Set system preference AgeRestrictionMarker to FSK - Went to the bibliographic frameworks and made sure 521$a was set to be visible in OPAC, editor and staff interface - Went into the Koha to MARC mappings and set 521,a for biblioitems.agerestriction - Changed one of my records to have 521$aFSK99 $aFSK 99 - Made sure my patron was under the age of 99 - Tried to check the item out and got: Age restriction FSK 99 | FSK99. What is the exact version of Koha you are using? Did it stop working after an upgrade? Could there have been any changes to your frameworks or the mapping? Maybe something to check first is that the age restrictions are still stored correctly in your database via the mapping. Something like this for a test record: SELECT agerestriction FROM biblioitems WHERE biblionumber = XX Hope this helps, Katrin On 03.02.21 22:57, Sue McMillan wrote:

Good morning, I did some more testing and investigating on Friday and worked out the issue. We were using FSK 13 is Marc field 521$a It turns out that in the Koha version we are using 19.11.07.000 FSK is no longer a valid term to be used under agerestriction in the administration setup. When I changed a couple of the books to PG 13 and entered the term PG in the agerestriction field in admin, Koha successfully stopped issues to under 13's again. Hi Sue, Koha doesn't limit what values work in there, could it have been an additional space character or something like that causing the issue? I tested with FSK myself and it works well in the newer versions. Just trying to help, so that you don't have to change all your records. Katrin On 08.02.21 20:01, Sue McMillan wrote:

Maybe something to check first is that the age restrictions are still stored correctly in your database via the mapping. Something like this for a test record:
SELECT agerestriction FROM biblioitems WHERE biblionumber = XX
Hope this helps,
Katrin

Hmm, I've tried it again, and Koha will definitely stop issues if I use PG 13 in 521$a. But it will not stop issues, as it used to do, when using FSK 13. I did find this information here https://koha-community.org/manual/18.05/en/html/systempreferences.html which does not have FSK listed any longer so maybe something has changed. AgeRestrictionMarker Asks: Restrict patrons with the following target audience values from checking out inappropriate materials: ___ Description: •This preference defines certain keywords that will trigger Koha to restrict checkout based on age. These restrictions can be overridden by the AgeRestrictionOverride preference. Enter in this field a series of keywords separated by bar (|) with no spaces. For example PG|R|E|EC|Age| will look for PG followed by an age number, R folllowed by an age number, Age followed by an age number, and so on. These values can appear in any MARC field, but Library of Congress recommends the 521$a (Target Audience Note). Whatever field you decide to use you must map the word agerestriction in the biblioitems table to that field in the Koha to MARC Mapping. When cataloging you can enter values like PG 13 or E 10 in the 521$a and Koha will then notify circulation librarians that the material may not be recommended for the patron based on their age. Important You must map the word agerestriction in the biblioitems table to the MARC field where this information will appear via the Koha to MARC Mapping administration area. Hi Sue, I think it's just not listed because it's only used in Germany. So more well known ones were used as examples. FSK is the Freiwillige Selbstkontrolle der Filmwirtschaft (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freiwillige_Selbstkontrolle_der_Filmwirtschaft). The preference works with any prefix you put there. It will look for it in the MARC field and extract the numbers to compare the age to. As I said, I'd check for any whitespace in configuration and your MARC fields and that the values are saved correctly to the database column. Katrin On 08.02.21 22:02, Sue McMillan wrote:
