FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
*New website offers a starting point for librarians interested in Open Source Integrated Library Systems*

Knoxville, TN, September 5, 2012
A new website, Open Source ILS (http://opensourceils.com), is now available as a resource for librarians and anyone interested in open source software integrated library systems (OSS ILS). The website is the product of a multi-year IMLS grant-funded study of technical support options for proprietary and open source ILS. It offers best practices gleaned from interviews with open source ILS adopters on subjects such as evaluating, migrating to, and customizing and maintaining these systems.
While conducting their study, researchers found that although there are a number of resources available about OSS ILS, finding them is not easy and requires visits to several different websites to compile information. Open Source ILS is an effort to create a portal that will contain useful information about different systems and the steps necessary to migrate to these systems. This website is the first to consolidate resources on systems such as Evergreen and Koha in a single place.
Links to additional information are included for each subject. These sources include vendor websites, community documentation, and technical support resources. Other features of the website include an internal blog, forum, and screencast tutorials.
For more information, please visit the website at http://opensourceils.com.

There's a few of those examples of mix ups. I guess you could contact them and give them the correct links. Chris -- Chris Cormack Catalyst IT Ltd. +64 4 803 2238 PO Box 11-053, Manners St, Wellington 6142, New Zealand

As did I, cc'd here so others knew. Anyone had a reply yet? I'm very mixed about it. I'm glad to see more resources like that, but I'm unhappy about several aspects of the presentation. It may be a sign that we need to be more active in our marketing, or it may be wilful misunderstanding, such as they way only three US vendors are called "major". Hope that helped, -- MJ Ray (slef), member of www.software.coop, a for-more-than-profit co-op. http://koha-community.org supporter, web and library systems developer. I too replied when they emailed me directly (before it hit the list) and have not heard back as of yet. I'll keep you posted. Nicole On Fri, Sep 7, 2012 at 6:02 AM, MJ Ray <mjr@phonecoop.coop> wrote:
