[Koha] Imported records not found in catalog search

Oh dear, now my complete lack of knowledge will be apparent.  What is  
zebra, exactly?  I've seen the word throughout the manual and sort of  
ignored it.  Since both replies to this question asked me if it was  
running, how do I find that out?
