I submitted a development estimate to ByWater Solutions and they quoted about $15,000 US for this development. While this amount is well beyond our budget I’m sure there are many libraries that would be interested in this feature. I wanted to touch base with you all again to see if there is continued interest, to each detail the exact specifications we desire for comparing/contrasting, and to see if we can move forward in cooperating on this development.<u></u><u></u></span></p>

Applicants would input their information online from the website or if at a branch they would input info at a dedicated computer terminal. They would input their full information including name, address, email, phone, birth date, and preferred library branch. They would then submit the information would receive a temporary library card number that would allow them to use the online databases and place holds on items. If at a library branch, they would then go to the Circulation or Reference desk to show proof of residency and obtain their permanent library card. Online applicants would also need to complete this final step before having full library privileges and being able to check out materials.<u></u><u></u></span></p>

What we had in mind was a customer could join via the OPAC and be assigned a temporary number. This would allow them to reserve items. When the items were ready for pick up they new customer would come into the library with their identification and the membership application would be completed and the requested item handed over.<u></u><u></u></span></p>

We would like patrons to fill out library card applications at a self-service computer station and then immediately present verification of residency to receive their card.
