I agree with Nicole that the current behavior should be the default, and I agree with Ian that a syspref to disable it would be useful for performance reasons. I also have a few additional comments as this is something that I looked into at one point (not disabling COinS, but using it). At present, the COinS span generated by Koha is not compliant with COinS 1.0. Nor is the COinS generated for MARC21 accurate for any but the simplest of books (there is an understated comment that the MARC21 support needs improvement in C4/Biblio.pm). See bug 4366 (<a href="http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=4366">http://bugs.koha-community.org/bugzilla3/show_bug.cgi?id=4366</a> ) for a start on improving COinS support.<div>

I know that academic libraries point out to their patrons that there<br>
