reading about your problems I wonder if your template files are up to date?<BR>
<BR>
After updating Koha you have to make sure that your template files for other languages than English are updated too.<BR>
To update you can run the "perl translate install <language-code>" command again. You might want to download updated po-files from translate.koha-community.org before running the command.<BR>
<BR>
I think the only time you don't have to do this is when using the big tar file where all translated templates are already included.<BR>
