I'm not a "techie", but one of my areas of expertise is
cataloging.

The most important thing about migrating your bib is to map them
accurately. Each ILS uses different holdings fields for items (copies),
usually in 852 or the 9xx fields.

Koha uses 952 in our case. I have migrated libraries from Athena,
Concourse, Concourse Pro, Spectrum, LibrarySoft, and AGent, but never
Sirsi, so I don't have any knowledge of where your item information is
stored. I suggest you familiarize yourself with what the items fields are
in Koha and begin to map those from your Sirsi.

If you are going to have to change some fields (or subfields, actually)
it may be worth it to export your Sirsi files, use a tool like MARCEdit
to change the pertinent fields, and import the new version into your
Koha.

Good luck!

does anyone have any experiences with
that? We've had initial conversations with several service

providers, but money is extremely tight right now and we are
considering taking a stab at the migration ourselves. If that
fails,
we can hire someone. I'll gladly read the full docs before
proceeding and I'm just looking for big ideas at this point. I think

we can export Marc8 records from Sirsi and import them into Kaho.
Is
there much more to the inventory conversion. I've not yet considered

patron conversion. Any tips or
warnings?
