Besides the Debian documentation (starting at <a target="_blank" href="http://www.debian.org/support">http://www.debian.org/support</a>), I usually recommend a great Debian tutorial I found at <a target="_blank" href="http://www.aboutdebian.com/">http://www.aboutdebian.com/</a>. Down the left-hand side are a bunch of task-based how-tos that you might find useful, and the "Good Books" link on the right navbar holds a list of excellent books, most of which are on my shelf, these days. </span></span><br>
