<LI>mysqld isn't running, so /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock doesn't exist
<LI>The socket is leftover from a previously running instance. Shutdown
all mysqld processes and remove the sock file. Then restart mysqld.
<LI>the location of the sock file is different. read your config and
search your machine to see if other mysqld.sock exist.<BR></LI></OL></DIV>
