[Koha] mapping data in Koha 3.0

Hi, the item mapping document referenced below is essential for mapping the 952 tag. However I have an observation and question about the date formats. The document says the date format entered in the 952 subfields depends on the system preferences:
"* Dates formats are controlled by the system preferences (Administration - Global system preferences - 118N/L10N - dateformat). Three date formats are available:
US - mm/dd/yyyy
Metric - dd/mm/yyy
ISO - yyyy/mm/dd) "
I have found for data loading that the internal date format of YYYY-MM-DD works and I think is expected. If I use this format in the 952 subfields the correct date shows up in the mysql database and it shows correctly for the staff and OPAC according to the system preference above.
I have also observed that if I put date in the 952 subfield in the format for system preference (eg dd/mm/yyyy) then it is accepted but goes into the mysql database in the same format (ie dd/mm/yyyy) so it makes me wonder what it would do with date processing on it.
The question is: Can anyone confirm whether the dates entered in the 952 subfields should really be in the YYYY-MM-DD format and if not can you shine any light on the observations above.

I think I may start with the MarcEdit and then try the Koha Mapping. I want to make sure my data is readable with the Koha database, not like my first import.
